1st April 2017 was no April Fool prank in Rulang Primary School as an incredible 96 students turn up on a sleepy morning to take part in their annual School Chess Championship for P3 students. Earlier in the month they had a tournament for the P4, P5 and P6 students.
The day started with a 1.5 hour talk on Preparations for Tournament and Laws of Chess. Th children then launched into a 7 rounds one day tournament to pick the best 3 boys and best 3 girls. The competition was indeed tough as the children competed for rights to represent the school in the forthcoming schools team championships.
Credit must go to the students for their gallant effort as majority of them only took up learning chess approximately two months ago.
