Yet another successful community chess event took place yesterday at the Ang Mo Kio Community Centre. Besides the all women’s category, this year’s family category was a tremendous success as well. A considerable amount of parents (both mums and dads) were playing for the first time after many years. They were rusty but gave good accounts of themselves. They were there to lent support to their young children and it was amazing how they gave their children some decent lessons in playing chess. The youngest player was barely 5 years old.
