The event was jointly organized by the Kasparov Chess Foundation, Punggol Meadows RC and supported by Punggol 21 Community Club Management Committee.
The event was a tremendous success for many reasons. The feedback from participants, organizers and the legend himself were very positive. Many lauded the selection of Punggol 21 Community Club for the event. The huge facilities and amenities around the club were a huge plus.
For the first time in the history of Chess in Singapore, almost all the major chess academies and coaches in Singapore got together and chipped in to help organize this event. It was unavoidable that the event took place on a weekday afternoon amidst the schools examinations and a workday. Otherwise the event turnout would have been a challenge for the venue and organizers.
Unlike the earlier visits of Anand and Carlsen which were closed events, this event was open to the Community at large.
The closing, prize giving, photo taking and autograph sessions took more than one and a hour. Despite the fact that he just arrived Singapore earlier in the day, Gary Kasparov generously obliged his adoring fans.
